GolfWA is seeking up to two women to join its Board of Directors — and applications must be in by January 30.
GolfWA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of up to seven Elected persons and up to two Appointed persons. Elected Director Kellie Benda resigned from the Board of GolfWA, effective from December 31, 2025, creating a casual vacancy.
Until Kellie’s resignation, the Board comprised of three women and four men, all of whom are Elected Directors. As a result, GolfWA is seeking to immediately appoint a qualified, experienced and motivated woman to the casual vacancy position.
The candidate must be a women in order to continue to satisfy the Constitutional requirements. The Board is also willing to consider appointing a further female Director to achieve 50/50 parity between men and women.
The applicants we are seeking will require: —
- Experience in strategic planning and organisational governance at an executive or Board level, ideally in substantial for-purpose/not-for-profit organisations
- Skills in any or all of business leadership, community engagement, government relations, stakeholder communication, marketing and media, tourism, philanthropy and fundraising, financial management, legal expertise and risk management
- Sound understanding of the core responsibilities and liabilities of Board Members
- Willingness to commit the appropriate amount of time to the Board, to at least one of the Board’s Committees and to occasional attendance at events
- Emotional intelligence, team skills and emotional awareness expected of Board Members
Whilst the Board will consider it ideal for applicants to have experience in the golf industry, relevant experience in governance or management in other sporting codes may also be considered advantageous.
Please note: in accordance with the Constitution of GolfWA, the Board may only appoint to a Casual Vacancy an Individual Member of a GolfWA-Affiliated Club.

Applications close on January 30, 2026, and GolfWA intends to make an appointment by February 28, 2026.
