2026 Karratha Open

The 2026 Karratha Open was the biggest on record, with 200 golfers supporting the championship at Karratha Country Club.

Held over the weekend of August 15-16, and sponsored by MM Electrical, the 36-hole tournament attracted men and women golfers from all over the Pilbara region and beyond.

The championship was boosted by a significant hole-in-one prize of a brand-new RAM 1500 Rebel, valued in excess of $150,000, courtesy of Karratha RAM.

And even though no one ultimately got their hands on the key to the coveted ute, the weekend’s competition was suitably spectacular with some magnificent golf played across four grades.

In the A-Grade, Karratha locals Anders Hanson and Chelsea Broun (both pictured above with MM Electrical owner Mitch Inglis) topped the respective men’s and women’s competitions.

Hanson carded a 36-hole total of +5 to win by five from Wade Stenhouse, while Beryl Lynn was runner-up to Broun in the women’s event.

B-Grade titles went to Mark Smyth and Tracey Jones, while Braydon Magerl and Damien Nahews were the respective men’s C- and D-Grade champions.

Karratha Country Club President Jason Bravington was delighted with the success of the event, which continues to go from strength to strength.

“We got a total of 200 people playing this weekend, which is the biggest Karratha Country Club has hosted for the Karratha Open,” he said.

“We’ve seen our biggest growth over the last three years, and we want to continue down that road.”

The buzz surrounding the potential hole-in-one prize also helped generate plenty of discussions, with Bravington adding: “The hype it’s had around it in the weeks leading up to the event, it’s amazing.”
