The City of Rockingham has become an official partner of the 2026 WA Open Golf Championship under its Iconic Event Sponsorship program.
The state’s oldest and most prestigious professional golf tournament takes place in the City of Rockingham for the first time when Secret Harbour Golf Links hosts the event from October 15-18.
It will mark the 102nd staging of the historic championship, which was first contested in 1913 and has a roll of honour that includes Greg Norman, Gary Player, Ryan Fox, Brett Rumford and Stephen Leaney.
In announcing the partnership, Arron Minchin, Chief Executive of GolfWA, said: “The WA Open is the biggest golf championship to take place in Western Australia each year, and we’re delighted to be bringing it to the City of Rockingham for the first time.
“Secret Harbour is a magnificent venue and a superb test of golf. It will challenge even the best players on the PGA Tour of Australasia and make for an extremely memorable championship.”
City of Rockingham Mayor Lorna Buchan added: “We’re excited to welcome the WA Open to Rockingham, giving players, organisers and golf fans the opportunity to experience our coastal destination, less than an hour south of Perth.
“Supporting events such as the WA Open through our Iconic Event Sponsorship helps strengthen tourism and the local economy, welcoming visitors to stay, explore and discover everything our region has to offer.”
One of three golf courses in the City of Rockingham, Secret Harbour Golf Links is owned by TenGolf Group and is routinely considered to be amongst Australia’s best public access golf courses.
The layout ranked 69th and 76th place respectively in Inside Golf and Golf Australia Magazine’s most recent top 100 public course listings.
The 2026 WA Open Golf Championship forms part of the annual Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia schedule and offers a total prize fund of $200,000. South African Oliver Bekker is the defending champion.
The event is free for spectators to attend and will incorporate free activations aimed at introducing beginners to the sport. The closing two rounds will also be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo.
