Jurien Bay Country Golf Club was transformed into a tidal wave of pink as 73 women from across WA showed their support for breast cancer research.
The club’s annual Ladies’ Open drew entries from 24 clubs, with participants enthusiastically supporting the ‘Cowgirl Pink’ theme in a range of creative ways.
Pink hats, boots and bandanas were seen in abundance, while the clubhouse was decorated to match, and there was even a life-sized inflatable horse to target in the ‘nearest the horse’ competition.
The Stableford event was followed by a high tea, while those who stayed on after sundown were treated to an evening of country music, where boot scooting was very much in evidence.
As well as a great day on and off the course, almost $1500 was raised for breast cancer research, with Jen Crisp, Secretary of Jurien Bay Country Golf Club, saying that the event was a fine advertisement for regional golf.
“It was a great celebration of women’s golf, regional spirit and the power of community coming together for a meaningful cause,” she told GolfWA.
“Beyond the fun and competition, funds were raised for breast cancer research, with players and volunteers alike contributing generously. The sea of pink wasn’t just a theme — it was a symbol of solidarity and community strength.”

Participants in a Get into Golf beginners’ clinic at Jurien Bay CGC
Jurien Bay Country Golf Club also enjoyed recent participation success, with 25 adults and juniors attending free beginners’ golf clinics courtesy of a Regional Servicing Grant through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport.
On top of that, five local golfers attended a practical workshop to complete their National Program Deliverer accreditation. This enables them to personally run the national MyGolf and Get into Golf participation programs.
