Men’s Country Week kicks off with a bang

5th Oct 2021

2021 Drummond Golf Men’s Country Week commenced today with 320 gents from all over the state enjoying the hospitality of fourteen different courses in the metropolitan area.  An outstanding representation from the regions kicked off today’s eighteen-hole Stableford rounds at Lakelands, Wanneroo and Royal Perth Golf Club.

The action continues tomorrow with Joondalup, Meadow Springs and Melville Glades playing host to the eighteen hole Par competition.  The big hitters challenge themselves to the 36-hole Stroke round, also on Tuesday which will be played at Hartfield Country Club.  Eyes will be on 2020 Champion Bunbury’s Tim Gilotti, who will be chasing another win, and a place in the top seven players.  The lead group from the Country Strokeplay 36-hole Championship (in order of gross scores) will qualify to challenge some of Perth’s finest amateurs in a battle for a trophy, but most importantly bragging rights, in the City vs Country at Nedlands Golf Club on Friday.  The City boys were on form last year, but this matchplay round could easily be won by either team.

The week is full to the brim with playing opportunities, with Gosnells and Pinjarra hosting the gents on Wednesday for a combined eighteen-hole Stroke and Stableford event.  Thursday will offer a team foursomes event enjoying the magnificent courses at Kwinana, Mandurah, The Vines and The Cut.

Many thanks to all our host clubs for generously making your courses available for this tremendous week of golf.  We are extremely grateful to you and our generous sponsor Drummond Golf for their ongoing commitment to this event.
