Top national award for Mandurah Country Club

18th Sep 2025

Mandurah Country Club

Mandurah Country Club has scooped one of the biggest prizes at Golf Australia’s inaugural National Awards of Excellence.

The club was named as the Most Outstanding Club, Facility or Place to Play for metro regions ahead of Massey Park GC (NSW) and Pacific Golf Club (QLD).

Judges commended Mandurah CC for “turning good intentions into good governance, moving to a streamlined board model, introducing clear business planning and reinvesting for the future”.

There was also praise for the clubhouse and course renovations, record participation levels and their hosting of the 2024 WA Open with judges adding: “Mandurah’s story is one of clarity and community buy-in, doing more with less and doing it well”.

Mandurah CC’s General Manager Grant Shortland-Jones paid tribute to the wider community for their wholehearted support of the club.

“It’s a testament to their dedication and time which the members and community absolutely deserved,” he said. “Being recognised through our industry bodies affirms the path we’re on and inspires us to keep moving forward.”

Mandurah CC was the lone WA winner on the day, although Margaret River GC, The Vines G&CC and Busselton GC were all finalists in differing categories (see below), while Margaret River GC’s Jackie Dickson was in the running for the Volunteer of the Year Award.

The National Awards of Excellence recognise the clubs, venues, partners and individuals that have set new benchmarks for innovation, participation, growth and leadership in the game. Many of this year’s finalists had won corresponding state-based awards over the past 12 months.

All the winners will be further celebrated at the men’s Australian Open in December, where their success stories will be further showcased to a wide, national audience.
