Collier Park Women in Golf

Collier Park’s commitment to growing women’s golf has taken another step forward with the launch of their Women in Golf pathway.

The pathway is comprised of three programs designed to get more women on course and keep them there in the long run.

The Take the Next Step program is an introductory on-course session where participants play four holes on Collier Park’s short Pines course under the guidance of PGA Associate Georgia McSkimming and experienced golfer Mandy Sudlow-Brown.

Beyond the Range is a relaxed, social nine-hole outing taking place every Wednesday afternoon that places the onus on fun and friendship, with accessible formats and challenges aimed at boosting confidence and building meaningful connections between players.

For those ready to take the next step, the Learn With Georgia program offers tailored individual and group instructional sessions with resident PGA Associate Georgia McSkimming.

Gemma Nicholson, GM of Collier Park Golf Course, says the Women in Golf pathway has been shaped to reflect how today’s women want to play and learn the game.

“Georgia and Mandy have designed these three programs to be sociable, flexible and welcoming and the feedback we’ve received from participants has been overwhelmingly positive,” she told GolfWA.

“The pathways are all led by experienced female golfers, so participants can start where they feel comfortable and grow at their own pace. But more than anything, it’s about bringing people together, forming new friendships and just having a great time, with no pressure out on the course.”

For Mandy Sudlow-Brown, who helped developed this initiative, the pathways initiative is about creating happiness.

“I’m doing what I love. I’m out on the course seeing women experience the same joy that golf has given me, both on and off the course,” she says,

“So, whether women are holding a club for the first time, looking to step confidently on to the course, or wanting to refine existing skills with tailored coaching, this is a really positive place to begin.”
