X-Golf Morley has become the popular indoor golf franchise’s sixth WA location after opening doors in late March.

Located opposite the Galleria Shopping Centre, X-Golf Morley features six spacious simulator bays with sensor and software technology, a dedicated “19th Hole Lounge” with a full-service bar and kitchen, overhead projectors for live sporting events and free-use pool tables and dart boards.

Indoor virtual golf venues have exploded in popularity in recent years, with more than 30 X‑Golf locations now operating across Australia and New Zealand – including WA branches in Balcatta, Joondalup, Nedlands, Rockingham and Bunbury.

X-Golf Morley Director Dean Petrie (pictured) — himself a member at Mount Lawley Golf Club — believes the X-Golf model reflects a broader shift in how sport and socialising intersect.

“Indoor golf keeps the competitive and social side of the game but makes it more accessible,” he said.

“It’s lower impact, easier to fit into everyday life and it opens the door for people who might never step onto a traditional golf course.”

The venue offers a range of experiences, including league nights and one-on-one coaching with PGA-qualified professionals, with plans to host specific events for women and juniors.

With Morley’s population estimated to have grown by 10% since the 2021 ABS Census, Petrie said shifting demographics, alongside broader economic patterns reshaping leisure behaviour, influenced his decision to set up his franchise in the area.

“The scale of investment into the Galleria clearly shows that Morley is changing, but entertainment options haven’t really kept pace with how people want to spend their time,” he added.

“With tighter household budgets influencing discretionary spending, more people are looking for accessible, local entertainment experiences that don’t require flights or full-day commitments.”
