Pinjarra Golf Club redevelopment

Mini golf, a new driving range and an updated clubhouse have been put forward as part of a proposed $27m redevelopment of Pinjarra Golf Club.

The club is seeking $2m from the Federal Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program to help pay for the mini golf and driving range, which are expected to cost $1m and $3m respectively.

The Shire of Murray council voted unanimously to back the club’s application and will also provide the club with a $1.1m self-supporting loan to help meet the rest of the cost.

Back in 2023, the shire spent $50,000 on a masterplan for the club, which included mini golf and the redevelopment of its clubhouse. Two years later, the shire contributed $119,300 for urgent safety and building upgrades.

A mini golf study last year recommended an 18-hole facility integrated with hospitality to attract families and non-traditional golfers, increase food and beverage sales and diversify income.

A masterplan developed earlier this year (pictured below) proposed a 1200sqm mini golf course as part of an entertainment precinct on Pinjarra Road, next to the future clubhouse, to generate additional income.

A business case estimated there would be 20,000 rounds of mini golf in the first year, with an estimated spend per person for golf/food/beverages of $24.

These numbers are expected to increase annually and increase profit between $299,000-$426,000 per annum.

As well as the above, the proposed redevelopment is also likely to include:

  • Some course layout amendments
  • Upgraded changerooms and accessible amenities
  • New maintenance facilities
  • Upgraded course infrastructure
  • Expanded parking and upgraded site services

The total development cost has been estimated at $26.984m, with hopes all project works would be completed within 5 years.

The club has already spent about $230,000 on early works, including two new greens, a simulator and a netted warm-up facility.
