Wanted: WA clubs to support The Longest Day golf challenge

23rd Feb 2024

Longest Day Golf

Cancer Council WA is seeking host clubs across the state to support The Longest Day golf challenge.

Described as ‘the ultimate golf challenge’ The Longest Day is designed to test the skill, strength and stamina of golfers, while raising funds for cancer research. Participants can choose to play either 36, 54, or the ultimate 72 holes of golf in one day.

This year, The Longest Day is officially taking place in April in WA, with participants able to take on the challenge between now and 31 May 2024. Clubs can get involved on a level that suits them best, with several ways to support the initiative including:

  • Open to the public as an Open Links Club: Waive green fees for non-members and share your amazing course with golfers, allowing them to complete the ultimate golf challenge
  • Green Fees Club: Encourage members and be open for non-members to take on the challenge. Green fees apply.
  • Members Only Club: Private Clubs encourage members only to take on the challenge.
  • ACE Club: Challenge your golf pro to take on a members’ team and raise funds for cancer research.

Clubs can also register to support Cancer Council WA’s free Improve your Long Game initiative, which is dedicated to improving sun protection for golfers. The program provides sunscreen on the 1st and 10th tee, along with valuable resources, information and support to help players reduce their risk of skin cancer.

The Longest Day Golf

With one in four Australian golfers receiving a skin cancer diagnosis, supporting The Longest Day or implementing Improve Your Long Game at your club will help raise awareness, support cancer research and protect your players. A win-win!

Full details on how your club can become a host venue are available on The Longest Day website. Alternatively, email events@cancerwa.asn.au with any queries.

The Longest Day was launched in 2021 and has raised millions of dollars for cancer research Australia-wide in that time.
