Lisa Wake underscored her status as a titan of regional golf with a third consecutive Silver Championship title during Drummond Golf Women’s Country Week.
Lakelands Country Club and Royal Fremantle hosted the Country Silver/Bronze Championships, which were played in a 36-hole Stableford format.
Capel Golf Club member Wake (pictured above) carded a two-round gross total of 45 points to claim a four-point win over Denmark CC’s Marion Nelson, herself a five-time winner of this event.
“I’m truly honoured to have won the Silver Championship three years running,” a delighted Wake told GolfWA.
“I love heading away for Country Week, playing some fantastic courses around Perth and, most importantly, enjoying the great company. I don’t go expecting to play good golf — but when it happens, it’s certainly a bonus!”
Julie Reid of Pinjarra GC, meanwhile, claimed the Country Silver Tray for the best 36-hole nett return with an impressive 74-point haul.
The Bronze Championship also saw a past winner reclaim the trophy as Bunbury GC’s Julie Rando (pictured) eked out a narrow victory.
The 2023 champion finished strongly on Day 2 at Royal Fremantle to card a 36-hole total of 24 points and leave herself two points clear of Capel’s Kaylene Turner at the top of the standings.

The Gladys Hawke Cup for the best 36-hole nett score by a sand greens club member went to Gingin GC’s Marnie Pearse, whose 77-point total shepherded her to an 11-point win.
The individual Bronze and Silver Championships were once again preceded by Canadian Foursomes events at Gosnells and Hartfield.
These were won respectively by Bunbury GC’s Mandi Willcocks & Rhonda Zanich, and Pingelly Golf Club’s Jodie Blechynden & Jodie Marshall.

Women’s Challenge playoff winners decided
Three events on GolfWA’s Women’s Challenge series were sandwiched around Country Week, with the Silver Spoon Playoff the first of them.
Mosman Park Golf Club welcomed 43 women who had made the field based on nett aggregate scores from club qualifying rounds.
Dianne Smith from Bridgetown GC was the big winner on the day as she carded a nett 72 off her 15-handicap to win by one stroke from Annette Harbron (Denmark CC) and Lynne Ferguson (Yaringa Ladies GC).
Next up was the Jubilee Foursomes Playoff at Rockingham GC, which featured separate categories for teams from both sand greens and grass greens courses.
Denmark Country Club duo Annette Harbron and Barbara Western amassed 38 Stableford points to win the grass greens division by three points, while Wongan Hills GC’s Teresa Macpherson and Michelle Latham won the sand greens contest with a 36-point haul.
The final event of the series was the 4BBB Challenge Playoff at Wanneroo Golf Club, where more than 40 pairings from across the state gathered for an 18-hole Stableford shoot-out.
In a nail-biting contest, it was Boyup Brook’s Naomi Dorrington and Sharon Nield who took out the title on a countback after they tied on 45 points with Adriana Wickens and Jasmine Porter (Donnybrook GC).
Noami and Sharon are now two-time champions in this event, having also claimed the title in 2023. As part of their prize, the duo wins a trip to the 2027 women’s Australian Open, which will take place in Adelaide next March.
