The golf events to look forward to in June

28th May 2025

Major championships again dominate the golfing landscape in June, with two in the women’s game and one for the men.

On home soil, the final WA-based events in the annual adidas PGA Pro-Am series will be contested in the north of the state in a month otherwise dominated by men’s and women’s pennants at club level.

Here we outline the golf events to tune into or get along to in person in June…

Major championships

Minjee Lee 2022 US Women's Open

Starting on May 29 and finishing on June 1, the US Women’s Open is the most prestigious championship in women’s golf.

Erin Hills hosts this year’s event, which could easily see a handful of Aussies in contention. As well as WA’s perennial title contenders Hannah Green and past champion Minjee Lee (pictured), keep an eye on Steph Kyriacou, who has racked up three top-10 finishes this season already.

Former WA state player Jennifer Elliott will also tee it up in Wisconsin after coming through regional qualifying. Japan’s Yuka Saso is the defending champion.

Just three weeks later comes the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at PGA Frisco in Texas. The championship is significant for WA golf fans as it marked Hannah Green’s Major breakthrough when she posted a one-stroke victory in 2019.

Hannah and Minjee were the highest ranked Aussies in 2024, sharing T24th. Korea’s Amy Yang defends.

The men’s second Major of the season, the US Open, will take place at Oakmont Country Club from June 12-15.

Min Woo Lee will be looking to bounce back from his missed cut at the US PGA Championship, and recent history suggests he’ll be a player to watch. Lee has made the cut in all of the three US Opens he’s competed in, with a best finish of T5th in 2023.

Adam Scott, Jason Day, Cam Davis and Cam Smith are the other Aussies confirmed in the field at this point, with Scott set to compete in his 96th consecutive Major since the 2001 Open Championship.

Bryson DeChambeau defends after his epic one-shot win over Rory McIlroy in the 2024 championship.

All three Majors will be televised on Foxtel and Kayo.

adidas Pro-Am Series

WA Open Braden Becker

Three more events on the annual adidas PGA Pro-Am series will be held in WA in June, offering golf fans in the far north of the state the rare chance to see the pros teeing it up in their backyard.

Two-day events will be held at Karratha Country Club on June 11-12; Port Hedland Golf Club on June 14-15; and Broome Golf Club on June 20-21. Spectators get in free.

With prize purses of between $30-$40k, these tournaments represent an excellent pay-day opportunity, so expect them to be well supported by WA’s leading domestic tour pros such as Braden Becker (pictured), who has already won two Pro-Am series events this season.

Amateur golf

Men's Pennants Division 1 Joondalup

A relatively quiet month lies ahead, with no significant ranking events for high performance athletes on home soil or interstate.

Nevertheless, June is a hectic month for club golfers with Women’s Pennants season concluding and Men’s Pennants season teeing off.

Royal Fremantle’s women look the likeliest winners of the Division 1 Pennant at this stage, while Joondalup’s men (pictured) will be looking to defend their Division 1 crown when their season commences on June 8.

Pennants aside, the only GolfWA event in June is Rural Bronze, taking place at Dongara Golf Club for women with handicaps of 22+. Register here.

July is a different story, though, with two nationally ranked junior championships, three Crunch&Sip Junior Tour events and the Provincial Tournament. View the upcoming GolfWA events here.
