The latest version of Golf Australia Magazine‘s top 100 courses list includes 10 WA clubs – although none make the top 20.
The highest-ranked WA track is Lake Karrinyup Country Club in 21st position, described by the judging panel as an “interesting, well-presented, testing yet manageable course with lots of fun shots to play”, while also having “the most interesting and best putting surfaces in Perth”.
The only other WA course to make the top 50 is Joondalup Resort’s Quarry/Dune course, which is placed in 39th position. The layout is described as “feeling like something dreamed up in a video game, the overly dramatic Joondalup perfectly balances the line between silly and fun, making it a great and memorable place to play.”
The other WA courses in the top 100 are: –
54: Meadow Springs GC
58: The Cut (pictured above)
65: Kalgoorlie GC
75: Cottesloe GC
79: The Western Australian Golf Club
84: Joondalup Resort Quarry/Lake
86: Sun City GC
93: Royal Fremantle
Due to the major redevelopment works being carried out, Mount Lawley and The Links Kennedy Bay were not included in the rankings, but are considered realistic contenders for inclusion in the next listing in 2026.
Predictably, Victorian courses dominate the upper echelons of the list with six courses in the top 10, including the number-one ranked West Course at Royal Melbourne GC.
