Reigning WA men’s amateur champion Silvester Tan has secured his first individual pro title at the Peet – Yanchep Golf Estate Sun City Pro-Am.

The Royal Perth member turned professional after competing in Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School in April, and was competing in just his fifth pro event at Sun City Country Club.

As fate would have it, Tan’s victory in the 2025 Amateur Championships of WA also came at Sun City and he again rose to the occasion to card a six-under-par 66 in wet and windy conditions.

It was enough to give the 24-year-old a one-stroke victory over Braden Becker, with fellow WA golfers Josh Greer and Brodie Martin sharing third after rounds of 70.

“It feels good. I’ve put a lot of work in, so it’s nice to see a round like this come together,” said Tan.

“I started pretty slow. It was wet and windy but stayed in it and hit a few good shots, made a few putts coming in, and picked up a bit of momentum.”

Tan had also partnered with his coach Brett Rumford to win the WA PGA Foursomes Championship at Nedlands Golf Club immediately prior to his Sun City success.
