Ryan Peake WA Open

Ryan Peake has confirmed he will compete at the Nexus Advisernet Bowra & O’Dea WA Open in October.

The Lakelands golfer, who garnered global headlines after winning the New Zealand Open in March, will be amongst the biggest names in the field at Mount Lawley GC from October 16-19.

Peake’s New Zealand triumph earned him a place at The Open Championship at Royal Portrush in July and also played a significant part in his earning a 2026 DP World Tour card through the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit.

While he waits for his chance to shine on the DP World Tour, Peake has been playing occasional events on the Asian Tour but says he can’t resist the chance to tee it up in his home state open.

“Any event in your home state is always good,” said Peake. “You stay at home and sleep in your own bed and travel in your own car, so it’s a lot easier on the body. More friends and family generally go out and walk around as well.

“It’s a bit more of a relaxed week for you, but I just feel like I haven’t played a tournament back in Australia for a little while now, so it’s just going to be good to get back there and see familiar faces.”

Although 2025 has already delivered some life-changing experiences for Peake, he says adding a WA Open crown to his resume would still be very special.

“I’d absolutely like to be a WA Open winner, but I know how good the depth is on the PGA Tour of Australasia,” he added.

“There’s so many guys who are out there that if you could put them on any tour around the world, they’d compete quite easily. I’m coming back and playing against really good players and it’s a good way for me to play my way into some form as well.”

Ryan Peake’s NZ Open triumph catapulted him into the collective consciousness of fans worldwide

While he’s no stranger to Mount Lawley, Peake admits he hasn’t had the chance to play a full 18 there since the renovated course fully reopened earlier this year.

“I played nine holes, but they were still kind of new after the renovation,” he said. “I’m looking forward to playing there. It’s kind of the rage in Perth at the moment. Apparently it’s brilliant.”

Peake’s presence is a further boost to the tournament following the news that LIV Golf superstar Marc Leishman will headline the field at Mount Lawley.

Peake has also confirmed that he will play at the WA PGA Championship at Kalgoorlie Golf Course from October 9-12.

The Nexus Advisernet Bowra & O’Dea WA Open takes place at Mount Lawley Golf Club form October 16-19. Entry is free. Full details on the event here.
