More than 70 intrepid golfers clocked up thousands of kilometres between them in support of regional golf at the 2025 GolfWA RV Tour.
With attendees from as far afield as Exmouth, Esperance and Dunsborough, the RV Tour spanned a week and visited three golf clubs in the northern Wheatbelt at Ballidu, Miling and Watheroo.
Each stop-off featured a day of golf and an evening of revelry and good company in the respective clubhouses, while there was ample downtime between courses to explore the towns and sights of the region – including the wildflowers in bloom.
Although the tour is more about joie de vivre than top-tier golf, participants were competing for silverware with a mini Order of Merit incorporating rounds at all three host venues.
The overall winner was Margaret Whipp (Collie GC, pictured above), who amassed an impressive 104 Stableford points from her 54 holes, which left her four points clear of Julie Delroy (Dunsborough & Districts Country Club) and Stephen Denman (Serpentine GC).
Amongst the many highlights of the tour was a ‘Bogan Bingo’ fancy dress welcome reception at Ballidu GC to commence the tour and a low-level flyover by one of Dunn’s Aviation fleet of planes at the same course as the first teams were teeing off.
Tour participants Larry and Wendy Woods provided the mid-week music entertainment evening at Miling GC, where Wendy had been one of two players to record holes-in-one during the day’s golf (more details on that here).
The week rounded out in style with a celebratory prize-giving dinner at Watheroo GC – just the tonic for participants who had braved a deluge of rain to complete their rounds earlier in the day.

Overall, the sixth annual RV Tour was hailed as a great success by GolfWA’s Regional Club Support Officer Ned Haywood.
“The tour was devised as a way for golfers to travel within WA and support regional golf clubs during the COVID border closures of 2020,” Haywood explained.
“Since then it has evolved into a great week that celebrates regional golf and creates lasting relationships between golfers from all over WA.”
