National crown for Royal Fremantle’s Terrell

17th Nov 2025

WA’s Sarah Terrell is the new Australian Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion after a convincing victory in South Australia.

Played at McCracken Country Club’s south coastal links, Terrell (pictured) made the early running in the 36-hole championship with a splendid one-over-par 73 on day one that left her seven clear of the chasing pack.

Day two was played out in some challenging conditions, with a chilly, blustery wind making scoring much more difficult.

With only one player in the women’s field able to better their opening round score, Terrell eased to victory despite carding a second-round 84.

Her two-round 157 total saw Terrell claim a three-stroke victory over Susan Keylock (Sandy Creek GC), with Glenelg GC’s Sarah Crocker third, three shots further adrift.

As well as claiming the Australian Women’s Mid-Amateur, Terrell also doubled up to win the concurrent South Australian Women’s Mid-Amateur title.

Terrell was the only West Aussie to compete in the women’s event, although three WA golfers contested the men’s championship with Royal Fremantle’s Aaron Doig the best of the bunch, finishing T22nd at +10.

Gosnells GC’s Gareth Spooner was a shot further back in T24th, with Peter Jefferis (The Vines) T37th at +15.
