GolfWA Talent Develop Program lineup confirmed

Seventy-two golfers between the ages of 12 and 17 have been selected for the 2026 GolfWA Talent Development Program (TDP).

More than 100 young golfers — a record level — applied to be part of this year’s program, which prioritises the development of athletes who are eligible for GolfWA’s future junior state teams.

Over five sessions between August and November, the TDP offers training environments where players can test themselves against the best junior prospects in the state.

Participants will be under the guidance of PGA coaches Jess Speechley, Luke Gerrard, Ackzel Donaldson, Joseph Ha, Scott Barr and Conor Brown.

There is also a focus on off-course areas of the game, with expert-led workshops on practical skills, strength and conditioning, recovery, nutrition, psychology, values, integrity and teamwork.

The 2026 TDP intake is split into two tiers of 36 golfers, based on ability and experience, with handicaps ranging from 1 to 16.2.

Marc Pike, GolfWA’s Participation Manager, says that this year’s TDP intake has a lot to look forward to.

“As well as being capable golfers, we also select players based on their personal attributes and commitment to the sport,” he said. “I have no doubt all the athletes will gain a great deal from their involvement in the TDP.

“The training environments will not only benefit their golf games, but also establish meaningful connections between the players. This will enhance their enjoyment of the sport, build confidence and help retain them in golf for years to come.”

Juniors from 18 WA clubs were selected, with Gosnells GC the single-most represented club with 10 participants.

Regional golf clubs are also represented, with players from Donnybrook, Pinjarra, Rockingham, Mandurah and Collie making the final listings.

GolfWA previously announced its lineup of athletes for the Tier 3 National High Performance Program and the Tier 4 Talent Identification Program.
