GolfWA RV Tour

The GolfWA RV Tour brings tangible economic benefits to regional clubs and communities, according to figures released from the 2023 event.

The tour, which launched in 2021, features golf at three regional clubs, as well as visits to local sites of interest as attendees travel between venues.

Last September, Quairading, Narambeen and Brookton golf clubs hosted 65 travelers from Sunday afternoon through to the following Friday night, with clubs providing their facilities, golf courses and unpowered caravan/RV sites.

Each host venue received a share of the overall entry fee (which covered green fees, use of facilities, lunch and dinner), as well as benefitting from enthusiastic support of their bars for the two nights each was open. This enabled each host club to generate revenues of between $7500-$10,500.

To ensure the wider communities also benefit from the RV Tour, participants were encouraged to purchase fuel and other essentials in the towns visited. In 2023, tour patrons spent more than $12,000 in and around Quairaiding, Narembeen and Brookton throughout the event.

“We couldn’t recommend highly enough that other clubs look to host the RV Tour themselves.”

Scott Ballantyne, GolfWA’s Regional Club Support Officer for the Wheatbelt, believes that the RV Tour offers a great opportunity for regional clubs to generate income, as well as showcasing the calibre of their courses.

“The RV Tour is all about meeting new friends, enjoying good food and making memories along the way on the golf course, in the communities we visit and the tourism sites we travel between,” he said.

“The fact that the tour can play such an important role in raising revenue for country golf clubs and in their communities is really the cherry on the top.”

There’s always fun to be had on the GolfWA RV Tour!

Quairading Golf Club’s Cam Fraser says that hosting the tour was a financial success, and recommended other clubs considered it themselves.

“We had a great time meeting all the new people that stayed and played at our course for a couple of days,” he told GolfWA. “We had a club event the day before the RV tour started and this was strongly supported by the tour participants as well, which was great for our club.

“The participants hugely supported the bar and other fundraising events we held in and around the clubhouse helping us make a strong profit.  We are very grateful for this support and couldn’t recommend highly enough that other clubs look to host the RV Tour themselves.”

The 2024 GolfWA RV Tour takes place from September 8-13 and includes golf at Corrigin, York and Northam Golf Clubs. Registration is open now. Full details here.
