GolfWA confirms Talent Develop Program lineup

GolfWA Talent Development Program

Seventy-two golfers between the ages of 12-17 have been selected for the 2025 GolfWA Talent Development Program (TDP).

The annual program prioritises the development of athletes who are eligible for GolfWA’s current and future junior state squads.

Over five sessions between July-November, the TDP offers optimal training environments where players can test themselves against the best junior prospects in the state under the guidance of PGA coaches Jess Speechley and Matthew Wolfe.

There is also a focus on off-course areas of the game, with expert-led workshops on practical skills, strength and conditioning, recovery, nutrition, psychology, values, integrity and teamwork.

The 2025 TDP intake is split into two tiers based on ability and experience, with handicaps ranging from +4 to 18.

Marc Pike, GolfWA’s Participation Manager, believes that the calibre of golfer selected for this year’s program is the strongest it has been since the TDP debuted in 2022.

“The 72 athletes show exceptional promise and, for the first time since the program was launched, all participants have a handicap of 18 or lower,” Pike said. “This shows how much depth of talent we have in WA junior golf.

“I am delighted to have Matt Wolfe and Jess Speechley drive the program again in 2025. Being able to expose our athletes to the skills and experiences of male and female coaches is integral to what we do at GolfWA.”
