Western Australia’s inaugural Connecting Women in Golf networking event set a national attendance record at the first time of asking.
Hosted by Royal Fremantle Golf Club at the end of May, the lunchtime networking event attracted a record crowd of almost 70 attendees, encompassing a broad cross-section of WA’s golf industry.
Private and public facilities, off-course venues, golf course architects, turf managers, coaches, content creators and fashion brands were amongst the sectors represented on the day, which followed the theme of ‘Career Progression and Advocacy.’
Two of WA’s most respected women golf administrators took centre stage, with Royal Fremantle’s Lucy Guppy and Wembley Golf Course’s Nicole Martino recounting their greatly varying career journeys, as well as fielding questions from the floor.
Tamara Mason, Head of Women & Girls Engagement at Golf Australia, journeyed across from Victoria to compère the luncheon and was delighted to see such strong support at WA’s inaugural outing.

“The room was absolutely buzzing with energy,” she told GolfWA. “Creating safe spaces as we did at Royal Fremantle provides the opportunity for women working in golf to meet each other, share their journeys and discover new ways of working.
“The opportunity to hear from industry leaders of the calibre of Lucy and Nicole was a real highlight and clearly demonstrates that golf can be a career currency for women, and there are multiple career pathways available.”
A joint initiative between Golf Australia, the PGA of Australia and the WPGA Tour of Australasia, Connecting Women in Golf was launched in mid-2025 and aims to build a thriving, inclusive and diverse community where women in golf are supported to grow, lead and belong.
“Based on the emotion in the room at Royal Fremantle, we’re certainly building momentum in the right direction,” Mason added.
