WA dominates – Rudgeley & Addy 2021 English Amateur FinalistsKirsten Rudgeley and Tom Addy have made it through to the final round of the 2021 English Amateur Championships. For the first time in history two West Australians have worked their way through stroke and match play rounds to compete in today’s historic final.

Tom Addy will take on John Gough in tomorrow’s final of the English Men’s Amateur Championship, an impressive journey to this point for the seventeen year old Joondalup member. A popular personality in Perth’s Junior golfing circles, there is enormous support and excitement about Tom’s success against the world class field.

I’m lost for words and it hasn’t really kicked in. I went out there and tried to play my best and if I won it was a bonus! From the start of the week I wasn’t hitting it all that well, but right now I’m confident. I can’t wait for the final – it will be a good experience and fun.

Tom’s Dad Harvey is in Australia watching coverage on the England Golf website thanks to ContentLIVE’s broadcast from Moortown (link below), with Mum by his side proudly enjoying every shot!

Making it to the finals for Kirsten Rudgeley is a continuation of a run of successes for the outstanding Mount Lawley local.

It’s an awesome feeling,” shared Kirsten. “To do well in any tournament and particularly to get to the final is awesome.

Annabell holed two fantastic putts to stay in the game but I just had to remember all the positive things I had done during the day.

I’m just going to go home tonight, rest up, eat some good food and be ready for tomorrow morning.

Kirsten will face Bel Wardle in the 36 hole matchplay final at Moortown Golf Club in Leeds.

Rudgeley rounds off an excellent week’s play which has seen her get past Ellena Slater, Ellie Gower, Mia Eales-Smith and Fuller en route to Sunday’s final. Fresh from a win at the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Amateur last month, the final is set to be an exciting one.

Tom will tee off at 8.30am, followed by Kirsten at 8.45am UK time. All the action can be watched via live stream on England Golf TV..
