Rural Bronze wrapped from Riverview

26th Jun 2022

Another hugely successful GolfWA Rural Bronze tournament has wrapped today at the popular Riverview Golf Club. Set amongst the small town of King River in the state’s Lower Great Southern, the club has done an extraordinary job, as if anyone expected anything different from a small club that continues to impress.

This year’s Rural Bronze has been won by Diane Haggerty from Riverview who finished with scores of 37 and 33 to score 70 across the weekend in the stableford tournament. A strong first round set up the victory at her home club, before recovering from a tough first nine today to take the win. Perhaps it’s reward for effort for Diane, who was apart of an organising committee at Riverview that have done a fantastic job.

Riverview will also take third place, with Tricia Sisman finishing with a score of 63 (30 & 33) to pip fourth placed Yvonne Simpson from Mount Barker who finished with 62 (31 & 31).

The best Sand Greens player was won by Mount Barker’s Yvonne Simpson with a score of 62, whilst the best Grass Greens result went to Denmark’s Lesley Owen for her score of 61. Pinjarra’s Dorothy Thomson, a Rural Bronze favourite took out the Super-Vet division with a score of 58 across the weekend.

“The Rural Bronze just continues to go from strength to strength, it was great to see these women come back together and reconnect. It was also great to see Diane and all the Riverview girls play so well and get rewarded for all the hard work they put in whilst organising the event alongside myself” said Suzanne Blay-Martin, GolfWA Events and Tournaments Coordinator.
