WA amateur Adam Baillie has upstaged a host of tour winners to claim the 2024 South West Isuzu South West Open at Bunbury Golf Club.

A member at The Vines Golf & Country Club, Baillie (pictured above) followed up a round of 3-under 69 on Saturday with 5-under 67 on Sunday to finish level with Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia regular James Marchesani at 8-under par.

Twenty-one-year-old Baillie was propelled into a share of top spot thanks to three birdies in his closing five holes, and he duly edged Marchesani in the title play-off to land the most significant title of his career to date. Marchesani had the consolation of claiming the $7,190 top prize, however.

There was a strong showing from a number of WA players, with Brady Watt and Scott Strange sharing 4th place on six under, T6th for Braden Becker and T9th for Kathryn Norris and Ryan Peake. View the final leaderboard here.

Baillie, meanwhile, who is coached by PGA Professional David Harris and Associate Daniel Hoeve, is eyeing a switch to the US college golf system.

The South West Open was the first event in the WA Swing of the adidas PGA Pro-Am Series, which continues at the GMW & Radlink Wembley Pro-Am at Wembley Golf Course on Wednesday.
