Perth’s newest indoor golf lounge is aiming to hit the sweet spot between high performance and social golf after opening its doors in late December.

Elevate Golf, based on Oxford Street in Leederville, offers four simulator bays with Trackman 4 technology, members’ gym facilities and a fully licensed bar, as well as interactive darts and a pool table.

Owned and run by sports scientist and specialist golf chiropractor Steve Lee, Elevate Golf also features advanced 3D force plates and motion capture tech based on the Titleist Performance Institute model.

These produce a wealth of crucial data to assist in developing tailored coaching, injury prevention and fitness programs for elite athletes.

While Lee admits that the high-performance data crunching is his personal passion, he says the ethos of Elevate Golf goes right back to basics.

“I think a lot of golfers are so focused on the performance side and in chasing scores that we forget why we started playing in the first place: to have fun with friends,” he told GolfWA.

“Most of us are never going to be pro golfers. Sometimes golf’s just about having a good time. We built this place with the idea of it being a dual space that can aid serious game development but is also great for the average golfer who wants to come have a hit.”

Part of that outlook includes a social golf league on Tuesday nights, where teams of between two and four players go head-to-head in Ambrose or Scramble events to create an experience that’s about having fun with mates of varying skill levels.

Maximising accessibility was also a factor in Elevate Golf’s pricing policy, which Lee believes offers outstanding value for money.

“We established very early that we want to be a premium venue without the premium price,” he said. “I want the best experience for anyone who walks in here.

“As well as the Trackman, we have 4k projectors to provide the best possible resolution, all our balls are Pro V1s and our hire clubs are brand-new Titleist models — we even have a range of Scotty Cameron putters to choose from.”

Despite being open for only a few weeks, Lee says he’s been blown away by the level of support and interest the lounge has already generated.

“From tour pros and bucks’ parties to small groups stopping by to play darts or have a hit after dining out, we’ve been getting a good crowd here,” he said.

“I’m really pleased with how it’s worked out. If I were to build a golf sim in my house and money wasn’t a problem, I’d probably do it the exact same way I did it here.”
