Seventh heaven for Green with husband on the bag

Hannah Green’s latest LPGA Tour triumph was made extra special by the presence of husband Jarryd Felton on the bag.

The 29-year-old Mount Lawley sensation secured her seventh LPGA Tour title at the HSBC Women’s World Championship with victory at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.

Green had to dig deep as nerves set in and two closing bogeys reduced her lead from three strokes to one, but she was able to tap in from less than a foot for a closing 69 and a one-shot win over USA’s Auston Kim at -14 for the championship.

Green’s seventh LPGA title arrived almost 500 days after her sixth, which came at the BMW Ladies Championship in October 2024.

“I’m far more emotional just because I was able to do it with my husband,” said Green, who moves into second on the Race to CME Globe standings.

Four-time PGA Tour of Australasia winner Felton proved to be a calming presence on the bag in the absence of Green’s regular caddie, David Buhai.

“I was feeling nervous and told Jarryd a couple of times that I wasn’t comfortable. He reminded me to take a deep breath, have a snack or even sip some water,” she said.

“I haven’t played with this kind of adrenaline in a long time, and we handled it really well. It’s very special to be able to share the seventh win, my favourite number, with my husband.”

Green had entered the final round level at the top of the leaderboard with Minjee Lee, but Lee’s challenge faltered on the back nine and she eventually had to settle for a share of third, three strokes back.

Felton will be back on looping duty for his wife at least one more time this season at the women’s Australian Open in South Australia from March 12-15.
