Maddison Hinson-Tolchard has capped off a remarkable 2018/2019 season by claiming the Ivie Temperley trophy with an average of 69.41.
Maddison narrowly edged out Kathryn Norris (Mandurah CC) who averaged 69.84 across the season.
In early 2018 Maddison had great success in capturing the Australian Girls’ title and was able to continue this form across the 2018-19 Season, with key performances including; 2018 SA Amateur Medallist and Semi-Finalist, being one of two women to qualify for the 2018 Nexus Risk WA Open at Mount Lawley, and a runner-up finish at the 2018 Port Phillip Open Amateur (Vic).
This early season form was highlighted with a victory at the 2018 Victorian Amateur Championship.
Maddy also had strong results and finished inside the top 5 at both the Australian Masters of the Amateurs and the Bowra & O’Dea Women’s 72 Hole Classic.
Maddy’s consistent run of high finishes was rewarded with selection in several representative teams.
Maddy captained the Junior Girls State Team in Queensland. She also represented Australia on three occasions at the Asia-Pacific Women’s Amateur (Japan), the Toyota World Junior Cup (Japan) and the IMG World Junior Championship (USA).
Royal Fremantle member Hayden Hopewell claimed the Paxton Averages title after a breakout season for the youngster.
Hayden averaged 69.73 strokes over 47 rounds to claim the Paxton Average Trophy over Josh Greer (70.31).
Hayden’s 2018/2019 season was highlighted with a win at the 2018 Royal Fremantle Club Championship 12-months ago.
This result was just the start, as his busy summer schedule produced multiple national junior wins alongside multiple strong Men’s results.
Notable performances included a Runner Up finish at the 2019 Tasmanian Open and two Paxton victories at the Rockingham Bowl and the Pinjarra Men’s Open.
Hayden complemented these victories with top 5 performances at the Mandurah Amateur Open, Riversdale Cup (Vic), SA Men’s Classic and the Port Phillip Open Amateur (Vic).
Alongside Hayden’s many significant performances in local and national events, he was also selected for multiple state and national representative opportunities.
Hayden was selected in the Junior Boys State Team that competed in Queensland and the WA Men’s side that travelled to Hobart.
Hayden’s results also earned him a spot in several national representative teams, including the Thunderbird Junior Invitational (USA), IMG World Junior Championship (USA) and the Toyota World Junior Cup (Japan).
The Annual Golf Day & Dinner perpetual award, The Hastings Reid Trophy, was claimed by Lakelands Country Club on Friday, taking out the 18-hole Stableford team competition. Thank you to the sensational Lake Karrinyup Country Club for hosting this year’s Golf Day and Presentation Dinner.
