GolfWA Talent Development Program (TDP)

The GolfWA Talent Development Program (TDP) is focused on the development of athletes eligible for our current and future junior state squads.

The TDP aims to offer training environments where players can compete and test themselves against the best junior prospects in the state whilst upskilling off-course areas of the game.

The 2025 TDP squads have been selected and can be viewed here.

Key information

• The TDP is focused on the development of athletes eligible for Junior State Squads in 2026 and beyond
• The TDP will have 2 x Tiers based on ability to create optimal training environments for athletes
• The TDP aims to develop holistic athletes through workshops on practical skills, strength and conditioning, recovery, nutrition, psychology, values, integrity and teamwork capacities
• Athletes who meet the selection criteria (below) are encouraged to apply

Selection Expectations

1. Must show aspirations to develop their golfing capacity on and off the course including strength and conditioning, physio screening, golf mindset, nutrition and wellbeing
2. Must continually demonstrate expected behaviours of integrity, commitment, and respect for golf and the wider community
3. Prospective athletes are expected to have played a significant amount of golf and be committed to pursuing golf in the long term
4. Before applying, prospective athletes are expected to have spoken to their coach and received their approval that they are ready for this level of program
5. It is anticipated that prospective athletes will be regularly competing in Junior Open events

Selection Criteria

1. Turning 12 years old (or older) in each year of selection, or turning 18 after April 8, 2026, in order to be eligible for the 2026 Junior Interstate Teams Matches
2. 2024/25 Junior Stroke Averages, Crunch&Sip Junior Tour Averages 24/25, Golflink Handicaps, Paxton and Ivey Temperley Stroke Averages (where applicable)*
3. Athlete adherence to the values and cultures of GolfWA the GolfWA Athlete Code of Conduct in all events past and upcoming

*GolfWA chooses not to specify a stroke average/handicap minimum as we are selecting across a variety of ages and the selection process will identify talent for their age
