Royal Perth’s Jordan Jung will make his first start as a professional golfer at this week’s WA Open.
The 23-year-old entered WA Open Pre-Qualifying on Monday as an amateur but immediately switched to the pro ranks after successfully earning his spot in the field.
He will now compete at Secret Harbour alongside a raft of Australia’s top golfers at the 102nd staging of the WA Open, which commences on Thursday.
Following a four-year stint in the US college golf system playing for Georgia State University, Jung has been back in Perth playing top-level amateur golf since mid-2025.
In that time, he has been part of the GolfWA High Performance Squad and played a key role in Royal Perth going back-to-back in Division 1 Men’s Pennants in the past two years.

Although pro golf has long been on Jung’s radar, he said that qualifying for the WA Open made the decision to switch easy.
“Turning pro has always been the target,” he told GolfWA. “I was planning on doing my PGA traineeship next year, but my main goal has always been to play on tour.”
“The WA Open is a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to seeing how I go. Like anyone who turns pro, I have big dreams.”
Jung lacks formal status on the Challenger PGA Tour of Australia, so will be relying on pre-qualifying for events and strong performances when opportunities arise.
He’s not overawed by the challenge, though, and believes he has the game to prosper this week at Secret Harbour.
“I really like Secret Harbour as a golf course. I’ve played here lots of times and it’s always in great condition,” he said.
“You have to be accurate off the tee to score well, and that is a strength of my game.”
Depending on the weather conditions, Jung thinks the WA Open winning score could be between 15 and 20 under par – but does he think he’s capable of shooting numbers that low on his pro debut?
“I think if I have a really good week, I can shoot a low score,” he said. “First and foremost, my aim is to make the cut this week and after that we’ll see how it goes.”
Jordan is one of 25 WA golfers who’ll tee it up at the WA Open, which takes place from October 15-18. Entry is free for spectators all week.
