The City of Perth Amateur Championship has always been a feature event on the WA golf calendar and 2020 will see a historic first as entries are open to women for the first time.
First played in 1958 as a WA Golf Association event, Royal Perth Golf Club have hosted the event since 1963.
Speaking about the event, Royal Perth GC Golf Manager Jacob Harris said, “Royal Perth Golf Club is pleased to announce the addition of Female participants in 2020 for the first time in the event’s history as a one-off initiative.”
“With the current COVID-19 restrictions preventing many of the top state amateurs travelling interstate or overseas for events, the 2020 City of Perth will provide a great opportunity for the top West Australian Male and Female amateur golfers to have some much needed high-level tournament experience. We wish all competitors best of luck for the event.”
