Marnie magic at the 2021 Aglime of Australia Rural Bronze

28th Jun 2021

Jurien Bay played host to 142 ladies from 45 Regional and Metropolitan Clubs this weekend to battle out the 2021 Aglime of Australia Rural Bronze. These record numbers align with the incredible growth we have seen in golf throughout the State this year, with membership and participation booming in the West.

The Ladies enjoyed three days of golf, with the main Stableford event taking place in two fields on Saturday and Sunday. Congratulations to Gingin’s Marnie Pearse, winner of the Lady Court Trophy and 2021 Champion of the Aglime of Australia Rural Bronze. Marnie narrowly defeated Bronwyn Hegarty from Wagin by one point, with Debbie Barnett from Dunsborough and Robin Anderson from Wandering following closely behind.

Lyn Allen from Geraldton secured the Super Vets win on a healthy 65 points, with Effie Malone from Busselton winning the Best Grass Greens 36 hole competition on 68 points. Maria Densham from Wandering, also on 68 points took home the Sand Green 36 hole title.

As in previous years the Rural Bronze once again proved to be a highlight on the golfing calendar. The warmth, hospitality and coordination provided by the wonderful Jurien Golf Club community ensured the entire weekend went off with out a hitch. Delicious meals, coffees, cakes and nothing too much trouble for Ladies Captain Suzanne Troup and her team.

The golf was fantastic, but the company the highlight. Thank you ladies for your enthusiasm, sportswomanship and a lot of laughs. We are a lucky lot in WA to have such an incredible golfing community. Bring on the Provincial at Wongan Hills and Country Week so we can see your lovely smiling faces again soon.
