Green takes lead in Tasmania

7th Feb 2014

Mount Lawley’s Hannah Green will take a one stroke lead into tomorrow’s third round of the Elvie Whitesides Championship being held in Launceston.

Green’s round of 72 was enough for her to finish the day on top of the leaderboard after starting the day two shots back of overnight leader Sarah Johnstone of Tasmania, who is now in a tie for second place with Queensland’s Sheree Hanson.

Green is chasing her first win in 2014 and her first in a national rankings event since the 2013 Bowra & O’Dea strokeplay.

Fellow Mount Lawley Member Hira Naveed has maintained her place in the top ten, with a second round of 77 to be at 14-over par for the tournament.

Jarryd Felton’s blistering 5-under round of 66 wasn’t enough to earn himself the lead, however he sits a shot back in a tie for second place behind South Australia’s Jack Williams who was 4-under for the day.

NSW Strokeplay Curtis Luck went 3-under for the day, but still has some ground to make up on the leaders, eight shots back of WIlliams at 1-over par.

Other Western Australians in the field include Kiran Day (T25, 7-over), Jordan Lambert (T28, 10-over) and Paul Bucan (T34, 13-over).
