Joondalup Country Club (JCC) Division 1 Boys’ Pennant team stormed home with a 7-0 win over Mandurah to seal themselves a fourth and guaranteed 2019 Flag. An early start at Sun City resulted in Gareth Steyn (JCC) and Ian Piennar (JCC) with uninterrupted matchplay wins this pennants season.
John Greer, Manager of the Joondalup Boys’ Pennants team reflected on the Juniors’ performance to date.
“As a club we are all very proud of our Junior Golfers. This season is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our club into our Junior Programme. The future looks bright for Junior Golf at JCC”.
The team train together every Tuesday under the guidance of Kerrod Gray, with support of club mentors Steve Leonard, Brad Hall and a wonderful parent network.
Last Sunday, Royal Fremantle Golf Club (RFGC) halved against Mt Lawley Golf Club (MLGC), both sitting in second and third places respectively on five points. Hayden Hopewell (RFGC) secured his fourth consecutive match play win defeating MLGC’s Jordan Jung.
Next week will be the decider for runner up with the last round of Boys’ Junior Division 1 Pennants hosted by Cottesloe Golf Club (CGC) on Sunday 24th February, 2019.
JCC played host to Division 2 Boys’ Pennants, with South-West (SW)/ Goldfields coming up trumps after a 3.5 – 2.5 win over WA Golf Club. This coming Sunday will see the top two teams SW / Goldfields and Lake Karrinyup CC (LKCC) battling it out for top spot at RFGC.
LKCC had a confident win 5.5 – 0.5 against Lakelands, and CGC a solid result winning 4 -4 over Royal Perth GC.
