MyGolf Schools Program

Golf WA organises and runs the MyGolf in Schools program throughout schools (primary and secondary) in the Perth metropolitan area only. The sessions are free and Golf WA provides an accredited community golf coach and golf equipment on the day. The MyGolf Schools program is a replacement for the Go-Go Golf sessions that have been run in the past by the Graham Marsh Junior Golf Foundation.

The MyGolf Schools Program is seen as an important link to introduce new golfers into the game. At the end of the MyGolf Schools sessions we make every effort to provide the students with a link to an accredited MyGolf centre in the surrounding area and provide information on how to contact the nearest accredited centre so that the students can continue on in their golf lessons.

The MyGolf Skills Challenge is ingrained in the MyGolf Schools Program. The skills are:

Rip It (Long Shot)

Fly It ( Pitching)

Roll It ( Putting)

Blast It (Bunker Shots)

Chip It (Chipping)

Bend It (Maneuvering the Ball)

Recommended structure of sessions so that we can maximise the number of schools and students exposed to the program:

Over 3 weeks (once a week)

45 minutes to 60 minutes per session

Limit of 3 sessions per day

Example of a 3 week program and how it could be run:

Week 1 - Crash Course: how to grip, stand and swing the club; Driving range setup. (Rip It)

Week 2 - Driving range setup; target practice, hitting to a target. (Rip It/Fly It)

Week 3 - Games; Competitions; Mini Round of Golf (dependant on oval size etc).
