Smarter than Smoking
MYGolf Schools Ambassador

Thanks to our supporting sponsor Smarter Than Smoking, the MyGolf School Ambassador Program is an exciting new initiative that will allow teachers across the state to bring golf into their school. Together with our MyGolf in Schools Program it has never been easier to access the game of golf at a school level. Golf in schools should be fun and is not designed to be at the same level of teaching as the kids can get from a qualified teaching professional.

Do I need to know how to play golf to become an Ambassador?
No. Obviously a working knowledge of the game of golf and how to swing a club is quite useful, but as a part of the Ambassador Program, Golf WA is running one and half hour clinics throughout the year for Ambassadors to not only improve their own swing but also learn the fundamentals of how to teach the game to kids, and have fun doing so.

I don't have the equipment to conduct the sessions:
As an Ambassador, Golf WA will provide you/your school with a MyGolf kit containing a coaching manual, as well as assorted size 7-irons and putters. The kit also contains rubber golf balls and matts to hit off. Extra MyGolf balls can be purchased directly from Golf WA. What you get.

I am not sure if the kids will get much out of golf?
If this is the case then contact Golf WA about conducting some MyGolf Schools sessions at your school first, just to see exactly what you are in for. But from our experience the kids have loved it. If nothing else it is a way to expose them to something other than AFL, cricket, soccer or hockey.

What if I get kids asking how to carry on outside of school?
As a MyGolf Ambassador your school will be linked with the nearest MyGolf Centre. Your linked MyGolf centre will then provide you with flyers, clinic dates and promotional items for the sessions they conduct. Golf WA will help to establish this contact and also ensure it is working for both parties.

How do I sign up?
Simple. Just fill out the Ambassador sign up form and send it to:
Matt Espie, Development Officer, Golf WA, or fax 9368 2255 att: Matt Espie

If you have any queries about the MyGolf Ambassador Program please call Matt Espie on 9367 2490.
