Strength and Conditioning

Strength and Conditioning Program

Strength and conditioning is an integral part of an elite golf program. All WA State Squad players are required to participate in the program.

The strength and conditioning program is under the guidance and supervision by John Polley, our movement specialist who has his premises in North Beach. New key performance indicators for specific golf fitness have been developed and we are proud to be the first state in the country to be using them.

In addition, John has combined the latest work of leading golf physiotherapist, Ramsay McMaster , John’s own knowledge of the myofascial system, with cutting edge new equipment including ViPR, functional cables and Power Plate, to produce one of the most complete approaches to strength and conditioning for golf available today.

The expectations of the program are:

·         Improvements in overall physical fitness

·         Cardiovascular endurance gains

·         Golf specific strength improvements

·         Proprioceptive (balance, coordination, visual spacial awareness) abilities enhanced

·         Joint mobility (range of motion / elasticity) improvements

·         Improvements in mental acuity

·         Increase player knowledge of factors affecting their own performance

·         Instill a sense of the demands of full time sports professionals

Players are required to attend an average of 4 sessions per month.
