Golf WA State Squad

Members of the WA Men State Squad are chosen by Golf WA State Selectors.

If a State Squad member is deemed to not be committed or consistent in attendance to squad training or squad fitness sessions, the Golf WA High Performance Committee has the right to exclude the player from the State Squad. The exclusion period is 6 months.

If a player is not in the State Squad, the player still has the right to be in the WA State Team. An exclusion from the State Squad does not mean an exclusion from the WA State Team. The WA State Team plays in the annual Interstate Series.

A player needs to be an Australian Citizen to be included in the State Team, as per Golf Australia policy. However, we do accept Australian permanent residents in our State Squad.

·         WA Ranking Top 5

·         National Ranking Top 20

·         National Junior Ranking Top 20

·         Men's State Stroke Average below 73

·         Women's State Stroke Average below 75

·         Junior Boys State Stroke Average below 73

·         Junior Girls State Stroke Average below 75

·         Champion of at least 1 National/State Ranking Event (Nominated only) (in the current year)

 WA Tier 2

·         WA Ranking Top 10

·         National Ranking Top 60

·         National Junior Ranking Top 60

·         WA State Amateur Champion (in the current year)

·         WA Junior State Amateur Champion (in the current year)

·         Men's State Stroke Average below 75

·         Women's State Stroke Average below 77

·         Junior Boys State Stroke Average below 75

·         Junior Girls State Stroke Average below 77

 

WA Tier 3

 

·         WA Ranking Top 15

·         National Ranking Top 80

·         National Junior Ranking Top 80

·         Men's State Stroke Average below 77

·         Women's State Stroke Average below 79

·         Junior Boys State Stroke Average below 77

·         Junior Girls State Stroke Average below 79

·         Completed MyGolf Gold level

 

Conditions of Tier Level Criteria and Squad Inclusions

1.     Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Residency

2.     Players can also be selected for all WA Squad levels based on their dedication to the process of reaching their full potential on and off the golf course and their potential ability to have success at international amateur and professional level. The guidelines are stated for players to achieve towards in each tier, however final selections are made by Golf WA State Selectors which also includes behaviour on and off course, personal presentation, attitude and commitment.

3.     Commitment to the WA Squad will run annually with a commencement date of January 1st. Minimum standards must be maintained in order to maintain position in the WA Squad.

4.     If at any time during the year a player outside the WA Squad reaches selected benchmarks and selection criteria they will be invited to join the WA Squad Program.

 

5.     Minimum rounds for the State Stroke Average for consideration is 10
