2012 Silver/Bronze
Due to excessive entries received for Country Week Silver/Bronze we had to split the field into separate Silver and Bronze sections.
Therefore Bronze players played Mount Lawley Golf Club on both days (AM Thursday, PM Friday) and a separate presentation was held at Mount Lawley on Friday September 7th.
Sliver players played one round at WA Golf Club, and one round at Mount Lawley Golf Club (PM Thursday, AM Friday). Presentations for all Silver players was held at Mount Lawley on Friday September 7th.
History
Country Silver Salver
36 Holes Gross
Originated to cater for the 15 - 18 handicap range i.e. those not eligible for State Championships.
The predecessor Women's Golf WA approached Mr. Linton (Silversmith) on 24/8/1956 to make a suitable cup for this event.
Miss Gladys Hawkes was State Handicapper for 22 years. She was concerned for the country golfer and initiated Executive representation in Country areas at her own expense. She "lived and breathed for country people" and did all she could to help them in any way possible. Miss Hawkes was given Life Membership in 1979 and died in 1989.
