Royal Fremantle's Min Woo Lee continued his strong form taking out the Division one title at the 2013 Smarter than Smoking Junior Match Play Championship. In an all-Royal Fremantle battle against fellow young gun Cameron Jones, Lee proved too strong winning the match 4 and 2. After comfortable victories in Rounds one and two held at Meadow Springs Country Club, Lee went into Friday's semi final at Rockingham Golf Club full of confidence after winning the Rockingham Bowl at the same venue late last year. After a tense semi final which went down to the 18th hole, Lee managed to hold on against Joondalup's Tom Hulme to secure his spot in the final. Cameron Jones proved to be a giant-killer during the early rounds defeating number one seed Stefan Reeves and pre-tournament favorite Sherman Chua on route to the final.
The division two title was won by Lake Karrinyup's Joseph Owen, who lived up to his number one seed defeating the impressive Jose De Sousa in a tense final which went down to the 18th hole. Division three was won by Mandurah's Lewis Tolley against Capel's Hayden Hopewell in another tight affair.
In the Girls, Mount Lawley's Nicha Thanissorn took out the division one title after remaining undefeated in the round-robin format. Thanissorn proved too experienced against impressive youngster Amelia Garvey, winning the decider 4 and 2 in a match that featured the remaining two unbeaten players after the first two rounds.

The Smarter Than Smoking Junior Match Play Tournament was played across two days with Round 1 and 2 being held at Meadow Springs Country Club along with Mosman Park Golf Club in case of excessive entries.
Each Division encompassed 16 players with players losing in the first round moving on to the plate competition. Divisions were created based on handicap ranges. All divisions were played off the stick however two divisions were played under handicap match play.
Format of Competition
All players will compete in Round One in their respective division. The winners of Round One matches will play in Round Two 'Championship' of their respective division. The losers of Round One matches will play in Round Two 'Plate' of their respective division.
After all Round Two matches, only winners proceed to the Semi-finals and Finals to be held at Kwinana Golf Club on January 27.
Eligibility
This event is open to all amateur golfers under 18 years of age as of 1st January of the year of the event. All players must have an official Australian handicap. Members of affiliated clubs who possess a domestic handicap may enter but must play off a maximum handicap of 24.
