As the first term of the 2019 school year draws to a close it is the perfect time to reflect on how successful the MyGolf in Schools program presented by Smarter than Smoking has been.

So far in 2019 the program has travelled to 14 schools within the Perth metropolitan area and has delivered over 300 golf sessions.

During this period, we have been able to introduce 1350 kids to the sport of golf!

Kewdale Primary School is one of the 14 schools that has benefited from the MyGolf in Schools program presented by Smarter than Smoking so far in 2019.

Over a three week period, the Kewdale Year 5s and 6s were guided through a range of different golf drills and activities.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed their golfing experience and approached each lesson with excitement and anticipation.

Kewdale PE Teacher Candice Piani was thrilled with the success of the clinics and the way they were run.

Speaking about the program, Candice said: “I love getting opportunities to showcase sports to kids that they may not otherwise get a chance to play.”

“The program has definitely been a success, the kids have loved it. Jordan (GolfWA Game Development Officer) is a great coach who is on the ball and able to keep kids in line and engaged.”

The programs have been such a success at Kewdale PS that Candice has already recommended the program to both Cloverdale Primary School and Belmont Primary School.

Not only does the program introduce kids to golf but it also helps to promote important health messages.

Healthway is a dedicated partner and supporter of the MyGolf in Schools program presented by Smarter than Smoking and GolfWA would like to thank them for their support.

The MyGolf in Schools program presented by Smarter than Smoking offers a wonderful platform to showcase golf whilst also promoting important health messages.
