It was a weekend of second-place finishes for our young Western Australian golfers.
Minjee Lee had to settle for her second consecutive runner-up finish in as many weeks on the LPGA Tour.
The current world number three shot a final round of 3-under 69 but couldn’t hold off the challenge of Korean, Sung Hyun Park who shot a blistering 8-under round of 64 to win by 2 strokes.
Closer to home, Hayden Hopewell and Kathryn Norris also had to settle for second-place finishes.
Hopewell held the overnight lead heading into the final round of the Tasmania Open and had a respectable round of 3-under par on Sunday.
Victorian Aiden Didone shot an impressive 5-under 67 to force a playoff and eventually defeated Hopewell with a birdie on the second playoff hole.
Mandurah’s Kathryn Norris played well all week but couldn’t reel in Queenslander Becky Kay who ran away with a 4-shot lead.
Kay will return to Perth at the end of March in search of a three-peat at the Bowra & O’Dea Women’s Classic held at Lake Karrinyup Country Club.
