Chris Lewis and Julie Withers saved the best for last as they claimed top honours in the afternoon session on day one of Drummond Golf Women’s Country Week at Sun City on Wednesday.

The duo from Pink Lake were last in to the clubhouse where they punched for the day’s best score of 39 to win the afternoon’s Canadian Foursomes for Grass Greens clubs.

It was a round to savour for the long-time playing partners as they revelled in near-perfect conditions at Sun City to win by five points from Stacy Dhu and Shelley Fitzgerald (Pinjarra) and Colleen Ryan and Marion Fraser (Busselton).

Narembeen’s Noela Cole and Julie Miller claimed the afternoon’s title for Sand Greens clubs on a countback from Renea Syme & Delina Haywood (Goomalling) after totalling 31.

Bunbury’s Jane De Paoli and Desiree Gardiner notched the best score of the morning with a 36 to claim top place ahead of Harvey’s Pam Davey and Lynda Ovenden on a countback.

Another Harvey pairing, Jo Eastcott and Cathy Loton, took third place.

Sue Greaves and Jill Holmes – who are two of the three female members at Mingenew – won the morning’s Sand Green clubs title with a 33.
